The organization, Poribes, embraces not only environmental causes but also all aspects connected to them. Originally founded by a group of medical professionals, Poribes emerged during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic as an initiative to aid its victims. Initially, our volunteers provided essential supplies such as oxygen, medicine, and other emergency assistance.

As the medical crisis unfolded, the devastating impact of the coastal storm named 'Yash' wreaked havoc on coastal regions, displacing countless residents. In response to this new challenge, we extended our support to the victims of Yash. Realizing the need for a coordinated effort, we decided to formalize our actions and establish an organization dedicated to helping people in crisis. Thus, on 11/6/21, Poribes (Progressive Organization for Rehabilitation of Inhabitants Based on Environmental Sustainability) came into existence. We owe our volunteers a debt of gratitude for providing a solid foundation for the implementation of our environmentally friendly ideals.

Experiences

The initial milestones achieved in pursuit of our ambitious goals are as follows:

We provided assistance to the victims of Yash in Pathar Pratima, Sundarban.
We undertook the removal of solid waste, including plastics and other non-degradable materials, from the Durgaduani River in Sundarban.
We organized an awareness program for orphan children at Muktodhara, Naihati.
Providing free primary education to children in brickfields.
Conducting awareness programs for female workers in brickfields, focusing on feminine hygiene.
Providing educational support to specially-abled children at 'Titirsha.'
Provided Mosquito nets and other useful items to the families in brickfields during malaria and denguehike.
We organized various social media campaigns on youth suicide prevention program.
